Its December already, where has this year gone?
As of today, we have seen over 1800 children through the new centre and countless visitors have been to see what Warning Zone is all about. On 17th November we held an event organised by the High Sheriff of Rutland who invited people specifically from Rutland to come and see Warning Zone. We received some extremely positive comments and support from this event so a huge thank you goes to Mr Peter Lawson for taking the time to arrange this.
Harborough MP and Solicitor General Edward Garnier paid a visit to Warning Zone on 25 November, at the invitation of the Deputy Lord Lieutenant and former Leicestershire High Sheriff, who is also a former Trustee of our Charity.
The 1st December was the Christmas Tree Surprise event which again was a great success raising £2,170. A big thank you to Mrs Miranda Hall and Mrs Julien Birchall for their hard work in helping to organise this event and their sterling efforts in getting donations from local businesses for the Christmas Tree gifts. Thanks must also go to the past and present High Sheriffs and spouses for their help with the food and also to all the people who attended and supported the evening. Our last thank you is to the Welbeck Choir from Woodhouse who sang beautifully for us throughout the evening, this really helped to add to the atmosphere and made it feel really Christmassy.
Talking of Christmas - we are now looking forward to our Volunteers Christmas Social event which is on 15th December. Our volunteers are really important to the running of Warning Zone so we like to look after them and try to run at least 2 social events each year. This year, as the centre is new, we are inviting them to attend with family and friends to come and have a tour round the Zones. It has proved to be a popular event and is filling up fast.
Our next big event is the High Sheriffs Gala night in February 2012 so a bit of a breather in terms of events, however schools are continuing to book and visits are going on until 14th December.
Have a great Christmas and I will be back in 2012 to keep you up to date with the news.
