Mayor's Appeal - Cheque Presentation
2010-06-01
High Sheriff of Leicestershire, Colonel Robert Martin, was presented with a cheque for £5,500 by the Mayor of Charnwood, Councillor Roy Brown, at a reception held in the Mayor's Parlour on 7th May 2010.
Roy, a volunteer at Warning Zone, named Leicestershire & Rutland Crimebeat and "Wishes for Kids" as the two charities to benefit from the Mayor's Appeal during his year in office. The money was raised for Roy's Appeal by a wide variety of events and activities including the Loughborough Students' Rag.
Crimebeat Chairman, Michael Allen said,
"The association with the Mayor's Appeal saw the charity's name in print on far more occasions than is usual and the raising of over £11,000 for Crimebeat and Wishes for Kids is an amazing achievement. The cheque presented to Robert Martin will be very useful indeed to our Frog Island development."
