Warning Zone Self Assessment Completed
2009-09-24
Every organisation needs to ask itself, "How are we doing? What are we doing well and what do we need to do in order to improve?" Warning Zone is not subject to any statutory inspection process so the trustees authorised Chief Executive Sharon Binfield-Hill to instigate a critical self assessment process.
Because of our close links to education and local authorities, it was decided to apply the Ofsted Common Inspection Framework criteria when examining the different aspects of our operation. This uses a grading system of 1 (outstanding), 2 (good), 3 (satisfactory) and 4 (inadequate).
Self assessment is an ongoing process which informs the business planning process but as no-one at Warning Zone had experience of this process, this first assessment was conducted by the Quality Manager of a training organisation based in Leicester.
The report was complied using information gathered at interviews with the Chief Executive, two trustees and all staff members. Volunteers' views were obtained from the internal survey conducted only recently. Evidence was also gathered from examination of documents, school evaluations and management systems currently in place at Warning Zone.
The assessment, which is to be distributed to key, relevant organisations and individuals found that "Quality of Education" is "outstanding", "Leadership & Management" is "good", "Equality & Diversity" is "good", "Quality Improvement" is "outstanding" giving an "Overall Provision" grade of "GOOD" (Grade 2).
Sharon Binfield-Hill said,"Of course we are very pleased with the outcome of the assessment but will be looking at those areas that have been drawn to our attention and an action plan put into place to address the issues raised.
This is recognition of all the hard work our small and conscientious team and all of our volunteers have put into Warning Zone. It is good to know we have firm foundations to take with us when we move to new premises."
